The book has assessed the existing trade-offs between environmental quality and economic growth in Gujarat. It has suggested the strategies to create synergies among economic growth, its distribution and environmental conservation. The coastal regional planning is very important in order to address the issues of development for heterogeneous society. This study has classified the coastal region into different sub-regions in order to understand and address regional level issues such as effects of urbanization, the degradation of coastal resources and sustainable land use planning. Further, it has suggested regional strategies for each sub-region. Finally, the book has argued that the state has to adopt a regional coastal development plan in order to achieve sustainable development in the coastal region of Gujarat.
