Das Zukunftsforum Österreich hat 2004 eine Erhebung der kulturellen, sozialen und politischen Orientierungen und Handlungsmotive Jugendlicher (15 bis 25 Jahre) in der Grenzregion Weinviertel, Südmähren, Westslowakei, durchgeführt und 5 Jahre später - 20 Jahre nach dem Fall des Eisernen Vorhanges - Veränderungen in diesen Werthaltungen untersucht. Dabei gab es bemerkenswerte Verschiebungen. Besonders auffällig ist die Zunahme der Bedeutung der Familie und Freunde, die Einstellung zur Kinderanzahl und den Erziehungszielen. Insgesamt ist eine Rückkehr der Jugendlichen zu traditionellen Werten in allen Regionen festzustellen.
