As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the range of measurestaken by various governments, large parts of society were almostbrought to a standstill in 2020. Even the religious services of churchesand other religions could only be celebrated, if at all, underconditions that were previously unimaginable. These circumstances raise questions in the area of Liturgical Studiesas a theological discipline. In 53 contributions (24 of which are inEnglish), Catholic - Latin and Eastern, Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican, and Jewish authors from Europe, Asia, Africa, North and SouthAmerica, and from Australia and the Far East, provide insights intothe liturgical practices of their respective churches and communitiesunder these extraordinary conditions. The international, ecumenical, and interdisciplinary breadth of thecontributions provide critical reflections on the experiences gainedfrom the still ongoing pandemic, and provide constructive proposalsfor possible future times of crisis. In addition, relevant documentsare made available in an attachment and in an online appendix.Prof. Dr. Lic.theol. Hans-Jürgen FEULNERMag.theol.
