In Die deutsche Heldensage und ihre Heimat beschäftigt sich August Raszmann mit der Urgeschichte der Germanen sowie mit dem chattischen Volk. Er untersucht die nordischen Quellen und erschließt sich aus ihnen den Schauplatz der Heldensage auf deutschem Boden. §Im Fokus von Raszmanns Abhandlung stehen die nordischen Überlieferungen der Sage von den Wölsungen und den Niflungen. Er geht davon aus, dass sie ursprünglich ein zusammenhängendes Ganzes, ein vollständiges Epos bildeten, weswegen er klar das Ziel verfolgt, sie wieder zusammenzuführen. §Sorgfältig bearbeiteter Nachdruck der Originalausgabe von 1863.
