Ludwig Uhland (1787 - 1862), bedeutender Dichter und Literaturwissenschaftler der späten Romantik, veröffentlichte mit einer umfangreichen, auf vier Bände angelegten Sammlung von alten Volksliedern in hoch- und niederdeutscher Sprache Liedgut, welches vornehmlich auf Burgen und an Höfen weltlicher und geistlicher Herren vorgetragen wurde. Es stammte aus handschriftlichen Sammlungen aus dem deutschen Mittelalter, die Uhland mit Anmerkungen und einer ausführlichen Abhandlung ergänzte.§Das vorliegende Werk ist der erste Band und enthält die gesammelten Volkslieder.§Nachdruck der Originalausgabe aus dem Jahre 1893.
